a 4-week live online series for knitters & crocheters
knit without the knots
designed for the knitter's body — so you can keep doing what you love, with less tension and more ease.
april 7- 28, 2026 | 1:00 - 2:00 pm ET | 4 - 60 min sessions
your body is talking. you just need to know how to listen.
sound familiar?
your body is talking. are you listening?
you finish a row — or ten — and there it is. stiffness in your neck. an ache across your shoulders. discomfort in your back. tightness in your hands that wasn't there when you sat down.
so you do what you've always done. you stretch. you take a walk. you put the knitting down for the day and hope tomorrow feels better.
but what if stretching isn't really the answer? what if there's another way — one that actually works with how your body learns and moves?
neck & shoulder tension after time with your project • stiffness in your back from sitting
aching hands, wrists or fingers • that familiar knitters slump (the "schlump")
feeling like your body is working against you • wondering how much longer you can keep this up
the series
a different kind of movement — working with your body as you knit.
this isn't a stretch class. it's not an ergonomics lecture, and it's definitely not someone telling you to "sit up straight.
knit without the knots is a 4-week live online series using Hanna Somatic Movement — gentle, intelligent, nervous-system-based movement that helps shift patterns that have become problematic.
each class is taught from a chair. every week focuses on a different area of the body. you'll start to understand your body's habits — and how to gently change them.
by the end of four weeks, you'll have tools you can use for the rest of your knitting life.
what we cover
four weeks. four areas. real change.
week 1 — april 7 shoulders, neck & upper body • we start where most knitters feel it first.
week 2 — april 14 your back • the seated body takes a toll on your back.
week 3 — april 21 arms, hands & fingers • the tools of your craft.
week 4 — april 28 full body integration • bringing it all together.
what's included
everything you need. nothing you don't.
4 live 60-minute sessions — 45 minutes of guided somatic movement , plus 15 minutes of teaching and Q&A so that you can ask questions and get answers specific to your body
recordings of every class — yours to keep and use whenever you need, for reference and movement
a weekly one-page handout — key concepts and movement reminders for each focus area, for easy reference between classes
expert guidance — expert guidance — from a clinical somatic movement educator who is also a lifelong knitter, so that each class is designed with the knitter's body and its challenges in mind

27 years of watching bodies move — and one of them is mine.
I'm a Clinical Somatic Movement Educator, yoga teacher, and lifelong knitter and fibre lover. I've seen how bodies change over time — and how that can affect the things we love to do. I know what it feels like when the craft you love starts to push back. And I know there's another way — one that's simple, gentle and creates positive change.
